Having just eaten the best thin crust cauliflower pizza in my life, I gotta say today was one of the best days yet. Sleeping in an extra hour at St. Peters Episcopal church made all the difference as we embarked on a 20 mile morning ride from Morristown to Hillside with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey as our destination.
We felt the wrath of mother nature as the first rainstorm of our trip surprised us during the ride today. As the booming thunder and peanut M&M-sized raindrops cascaded from the sky, my teammates biked on heroically through the storm.
As we near the end of our day, we find ourselves in the cute town of Millburn munching on delicious donated gluten free pizza while watching some locals play a game of baseball in a nearby park.
Riding through Morris County the past two days brings me feelings of nostalgia as I have ridden up and down these streets many times. Pre-pandemic, I would train for this very moment, all along the great swamp and through Morristown. Passing through the very same streets gives me a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. I am excited to see where this journey leads me in days to come.
